MILK VENDOR FINED
In the Magistrate's Court to-day Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., delivered reserved, judgment in the case of the City Council v. Charles Jolin Duffy. The defendant was charged with unlawfully purchasing milk from a dairy which was not registered in accordance with the regulations under the Dairy Industry Act, 190 S. The facts were admitted, but a- plea of not guilty was entered, and legal argument centred on the interpretation of the regulations. The Magistrate expressed the opinion that under Regulation 26 a conviction must be recorded, and a fine of £5, with costs £1 12s, was imposed. The City Solicitor (Mr. J. O'Shea) appeared for the City Council, the defendant bein<r represented by Mr. H. F O'Leary.
