The High Commissioner reports:— LONDON, 17th April, 12.55 a.m. There has been a violent enemy bombT bardnient on the French positions at Avocourt Wood and Hill 304. On the right bank of the Meuse there has been, artillery activity at Dpuouniont, Moulainvillc, Haudvemont, and Eparges. (Received April 18, 9 a.m.) PARIS, 17th April. A communique states: There was nn intense bombardment of our positions in the Avocourt Wood and the MorthommeCumieres front. It is calm on the right bank of the JMensc, except south of the Haudremont Wood, where the artillery is fairly lively. i Nine of our aeroplanes on the night of the 16th bombed the Conflans Station, factories at Rombach, the Aruaville Station, and the Pagny-Sur-Neurthe Station.
