Judgment wa-s given to-day by his Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) in- the. matter of an application by Archibald Arthur Brown for the confirmation of a lease in which questions of law were referred to the Supreme Court by the Ikaroa Maori Land Board. The main question involved was whether a transfer of v, lease from a Native to a Native required the confirmation of tlii Board. His Honour held that the provisions of tha Acl wore quite sufficient to cover the transfer of a lease,' and that it was certainly the intention of the cLgislature to protect the Natives in that respect. His Honour therefore directed the Ikaroa Maori Land Board that the circumstances before the Court allowed that there- was no reason why the Board should not confirm the lease. Mr. E. P.' Bunny appeared for the Board, and Mr. 0, Beere for Brown.
