The attention of owners is directed to the closing of nominations for the Nelson Meeting to-night.
J. O'Shea's three wins at Te Kuiti on Saturday brings his total for the season up to 38, and again places him at the head of the list.
The Trentham-trained horses engaged at Woodville—Bairnsdale, Arlington, Ceylon, Kellerman, Rongora, Roumania, and Hymettius—were railed through this morning.
Mossman (Vaseo —Mosca) scored a long overdue win in the Maiden Scurry at the Poverty Bay Meeting on Saturday. Since the beginning of the season he' had been placed at Avondale, Ellerslie (twice), Takapuna, Feilding/ and Poverty. Bay.
The American importations, Alice Shaw and Queen Patch, are engaged at the Manawatu Trotting Club's Meeting to be held on Saturday next.
In the Sunderland Stakes, one mile, at the Poverty Bay Meeting on Saturday, Multicipal defeated Rupahu at a difference of 111b.
.. The progeny of Multifid won eight races at the Gisborne and: Poverty Bay Meetings. Multifual, who scored in the Roseland Handicap ,on Saturday, is one of the progeny of the/sire mentioned. Flag (dam of Multifual) is one of the late Major George's breeding; by Nelson —The Maid, dam of that good horse, The Workman.
J. H. Prosser.. left for Woodville this morning , with Kaiwairoa, Merry Dale, Gold Soult, Martyress, and Kukri. The last-named is a gelding by Ghoorka, and is engaged in the Maiden Plate. After winning at Feilding, Kaiwairoa ran at the last meeting at Woodville,. when Impostor won. Kaiwairoa is said to have somewhat improved during the last two months, and the field looks anything but a, strong one. Gold Soult and Taringamutu met in the Summer.Handicap at the concluding day of the Wellington Meeting. Gold Soult, in receipt of 31b, ran second, and now allows Taringamutu 61b for' the beating. The Gisborne Stakes winner, Penroe, could only get third in the Second Hack Flat to Cleft, who was "conceding 81bs.' Tommy C. put up two winning performances at, the Metropolitan Trotting Club's Meeting at Addington on Saturday. On his second appearance in the Stewards' Handicap he' went a mile and a quarter; in 2min 48se'c. —a 2.15 gait-,.
Bravest, who acted as runner-up in the Hurdles on both days at Gisborne, scored* in the jumping race at the Poverty'ißay.
