THE RECENT SHORTAGE OF WATER
TROUBLE RECTIFIED.
•' The trouble about the shortage of water in the city and suburbs, which has given bo much concern, during the last few daye, has been Temedied. Yesterday the Corporation, workmen engaged on the work of investigation found a. big leak in the .main running near tho Basin Reserve. As r soon aa tho leak was discovered a gang of inon was pat to-work, and in a few hours the service was restored, and "business as usoal" was reported.
The Hospital authorities report that the 'shortage occasioned a great deal of inconvenience, and that "borrowing" of water constituted a considerable portion of the work of the Hospital staff. Thanks to the energy displayed in that direction and the liberality of water-owners, there was no real trouble, but it was "touch and go." '
Much tho same state of ailtdxs is reported from the Ohrro Home, in which there arc 130 inmates. The high-pressure system had to bo discontinued, and there was, o£ course, some trouble about the sanitaTy arrangements. ■ . j .
