DEFENCE OF THE REALMS ACT.

"LONDON, 21et January. The King's Bench has refused an application for a writ of habeas corpus on behalf of an interned naturalised British subject. The Attorney-General explained that.the Crown's rights under the Defence of the Realms' Act were at stake. Prisoner's counsel declared that when tho Act was passed not a single person or party to its passage imagined that the liberty of Englishmen was being restricted, without a trial.

The Court held that the Act conferred the widest powers to secure 'the safety of the nation.
