AN UNUSUAL COURSE

An unusual courne has'necessarily been adopted in regard to tht ports of discharge of the Dutch steamer Itiow, which is due at Wellington from New York on Monday next. The vessel was originally loaded with the intentian of passing through the Panama Canal, Auckland to be the ilrst port of call, Wellington, Sydney and Melbourne to be next visited in that "order. The slips in the Canal, however, made it necessary for the vessel to proceed via Capetown and, following this course, Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, and Wellington would be the natural ports of call. Owing, however, to the Auckland cargo being loaded last, the original programme has to he followed. Despite the fact that a call had to be made at Melbourne for coal, the vessel had to practically pass Autralia, and will have to return to the Commonwealth ports after discharging her New Zealand cargo

The .R.M.S. Makura is due at Auckland from Sydney next Monday, and will sail on Tuesday evening in continuution ol her voyage to Vancouver Though it was £,t first intended to despatch the Karamu for Westport last evening, this programme was later altered. The Karamu now sails to-day for Dunedin, Timaru, Lyttclton, Westport, and Greymouth The A. and A. liner Parattah (Captain Appleyard), which arrived at Lyttelton on the 15th December last from New York direct,, and subsequently visited Dunedin, Melbourne, and Sydney, is now loading wheat at Australian ports for the United, Kingdom
