A SOLDIER LEADER-WRITER.

Captain E. 6. J. Moyna, of the Royal Scots Fusiliers, and a leader-writer on the Morning Post, was killed in Flanders on 26th September. He first joined the London Scottish as a private, and had a high'sense of .duty, as' this story shows: — • '

An officer friend', when he was a private, recognised in him a leader-writer oil the stag of the Morning Post, and without thought of military things went across to him with his hand extended and said : " Hullo, Moyna! Delighted to see you ! ,;How are you getting on?" The private remained rigidly at attention, and replied: -".yery we'll ; thank you, sir,"- with .painful stress on the "sir."

His old colleague sajd quietly: "Oh, stop 'that, Moyna," and made other appeals of. the same kind, but Private Mo'yna remained' absolutely'1 unmoved, and gave no sign 'of recognition, beyond perhaps a little more twinkle than usual in his eyes. All -he would say was "Yes, sir," and ■ ".'•'No,' sir," and' there was nothing to lie done but, k> retire unhappy and acknowledge so lie did so another " devil g£ a salute,"
