In the Wellington Cup, Jewel Chimes,' who will be driven by H. lYi/ixaej; is. handicapped at 4.38.' He is giving away 22sec, the nearest to him being Hymen, his stable-mate; who won at Auckland recently in 3rriin 41sec. . He will be driven-by his trainer, D.'. Nyhan.''. Agathos, on the same mark, is a promising three-year-old, who will be driven by' J. Wright, formerly a .successful rider and driver at local meetings held'at Miramar and ' Johnsonville. Agathos won ' the Templetpn Handicap, two miles, at the Canterbury Park Meeting on New Year's Day in 4min 58sec. He won easing up, and should improve on the time named. Sinoda, also 0h... 18sec mark, will be driven by Fred^Holmes. She is a full sister to Kea Dillon! At New Brighton last month Sinoda won the Innovation Handicap, one mile and a-half, in 3min 40sec. Nordica will be driven by N. L. Price. She is a daughter of King Cole, with a three-year-old record of smin 6sec, • and is one -of the most fancied candidates. - Darkness, on 19sec, will be driven by S. August. At New Brighton last month she won the Trial Handicap, one mile and ; a-half, in 3miD 41sec. Lucille, on 21sec, is one of the successful Harold Dillon tribe, akd :will" be driven' by A. Fleming. Last season,' as a three-year-old, she put up a record, of ,4min 57sec. Good Child, on 2lsec,. one of the great Rothschild breed, won tho Drayton. Handicap, one mile and a-half, at Methuen lasfr month in 3min 43sec. Rorke's Drift, on 21sec, was among,the winners at Ashburton on Boxing Day. He scored in the Trial Handicaps one mile and a-half, in 3min 45sec. This season he won the Blackwater Handicap, one mile and a-quarter, at Inangahua, in 3min 9sec. He.also ran second in the Greymouth Cup this month. J. Bryce's nomination, The Sovereign, did not pay up, but will take part in the Electric Handicap later in the afternoon: Bry'ce is in great form at present, and whatever he drives in thi Cup may, be found worth following.
