NEW YEAR GIFTS
THE MAYOR'S MAIL BAG
The Mayor's correspondence to-day contained the following gifts for various patriotic funds : —r Wounded Soldiers and. Sailors Fund.— C. J. Bennett Otahuao, proceeds threo bales wool, £68 19s 5d ; J. 0. Bidwill, proceeds one bale wool, £26 9s 3d; Wellington Girls' College sports,, proceeds and prize money, £100; staff'Wairarapa Farmers' Co. (further contribution), £15 9s 4d ; Sisters, Otaki Convent I School, scholars' prize money, per Archbishop O'Shea, £10. New Belgian Fund.—W. W. Simcox, Otaki, £1 Is; Ohau district, collected by Wm. Kebbell, £3 15s 6d; C. E. Tatum, £5; Miss Dacres, 10s Mayor's Patriotic Fund.—C. E. Galwey, £1; Wm. Ferguson (monthly), Bl; Win. Ferguson (special), £5; H. E. Nicholls (monthly), £1; Mrs. J. P. Firth, £1. Soldiers' Christmas Dinner Fund.— Gisborne Sheepfarmers' Co., £10. War Distress Fund.—F. W. Rowley, £1. Servian Relief Fund.—Wm. Simcox, Otaki, £1. Soldiers' Tobacco Fund.—Gertie Hodgson, Murchison, sale of pudding, 4s 3d. Tho Wellington Girls' College raised in all £175 (including the value of the voluntarily foregone prizes). The £75 balance was sent to tho V.M.C.A. for use for the men at the front. The sales of tho bales of wool above referred to were gross proceeds, and the wool was sold by Levin and Co.
