LATE SHIPPING
MOERAKI FROM SYDNEY DIRECT .' Shortly after 11 o'clock this morning the Moeraki arrived in port from Sydney direct, and berthed at the Queen's Wharf. The vessel left the New South Wales port at 3.30 p.m. on thi 30th December, and experienced fresh south-easterly to south-westerly breezes, with moderate seas on her run across the Tasman. The weather was fine throughout the trip. The Moeraki brought 871 tons of cargo to put out at Wellington, including transhipments ex Aldenham, Sierra, Arabia, TJrilla, Rena, Omrah, Cooma, Wadoo, Kadina, Futtala, and Wyretna The following passengers also came across to Wellington:—Saloon : Misses Collins, Dinwiddie, Isaacs, McLeod, McArtbur, Leary, Harrison, Mack, Pollard, Forrest, Smith, Stuart, Chapman, Robinson, Cull, McKellan, Horwood, Rendall, ' Selman, Blakenay, Knight, Mason, Williamson, Mesdames George, Farmer, Wilson, Bishop and infant, Barsley and 2 children, Blythe, Gotch, Smith, Chockson, Watson, Hayley, Blakeney, Dr. Wilson, Sergt. McArthur, Cpl. Tutchett, Rev. McGrath, Rev. B. Gregson, Dr. Chockson,, Messrs Gunn, Gibbs, Shrig, Bishop, Bullock, Salek, McLeod (2), Stitt, Fraser, Smith, Handley, Rendle, Blyth, Williams, TJttley, Gotch, Mack, Turnbull, Northcote, Sutton, Dimant, Watson, Jones, Potts lumsden, Cribb, Kelly, Edge, Mori, Truman, Broad, and 75 steerage The Moeraki is timed to sail for Lyttelton to-morrow afternoon, and -will return on Thursday in order to sail the same day on the return trip to Sydney NEREHANA'S CARGO Says the Auckland Star:—As the result,of slight damage to the Nerehana shortly after leaving the docks in London, the local agents (Messrs. Heather, Roberton, Ltd.) state that consignees are being asked to sign a general average bond though no payment will at present be asked for. The Nerehana docked at Sydney as she was leaking, though the damage to the hull was found to be very slight THE GOLDEN GATE A departure from San Francisco on Fririav was the four-masted barquentine Golden Gate for Dunedin. Despite her American name, the Golden Gate is a British vessel, being owner! by a well known Liverpool shipping firm. It is now some time since a sailing vessel has left San Francisco for New Zealand, and the departure of the Golden Gate is an indication of the change which has taken place in the shipping world, on account of the war THE ARRAH-NA-POGUE With a full cargo of timber the three-masted scow Arrah-na-Pogue made her re-appearance here on Friday evening from Hokianga. She berthed this morning at Clyde-quay Wharf to commence discharge KARAMU TO LOAD FRUIT In order to load fruit at the Islands for Wellington tho Karamu left Westport at 10.30 a.m. to-day for Suva The Hawera, due, here from Patea to-morrow.
