HOLIDAY STEAMER TRAFFIC

Passenger accommodation on the ferry steamer Maori was severely taxed when that vessel sailed for Lytlelton last evening, there being about 600 people on board. This, of course, is accounted for by the near approach of the Christmas holidays. The most noteworthy .feature of the Maori's departure, however, was the fact that she sailea under full steam. The below-deck complement was made up by four of the Union Company's permanent hands signing on at Lyttelton. These men were- to leave the vessel at Lyttelton, and it is probable that the Maori will Be short of her complement when she arrives back at Wellington tomorrow.
