SERIOUS FIRE IN GISBORNE
THE INSURANCES.

GISBORNE, 17th December. A moderate estimate of the damage done by yesterday's fire in the business area is £15,000. The insurances are as follow :—Ardoyne brick buildings (owned ky_ Andrew's Estate, Christchurch), £3500, in the Standard office; wooden building (owned by T. M'lntyre, of TeAraij. £900, in New Zealand office; Leydon^s paint shop, £50, in State o~ce ; urundy and Snennan's stock and plant. £2250 in Commercial Union office, and £2250 in the Phoenix office; W. J. Sinclair's stock, £150 hi Australian Alliance office; Guthrie and Maddock's stock, £510 in the National office, £500 in the Yorkshire office, and £450 in the Sun office; W., Stevenson's furniture, ±:2CO in the New Zealand office; Graham and Alexander's stock, £200 in Standard office; J. B. Leydoirs stock and plant, £450 in the State office.
