ANOTHER QUEEN CARNIVAL
(IT TIIIORAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
ASHBURTON, This Day. For some time past the Mount Hutt Biding of the Ashburton County has been making concerted efforts to assist Ashburton County for the Relief Fund. A queen carnival, which has been in progress, was brought to a conclusion at Methven yesterday at a fete held at the conclusion of the local Caledonian Society's sports. There were six candidates representing the township and surrounding districts, and Miss Margaret M'Kendry, of Lyndhurst, was elected queen after a very close finish. The contest produced £5550, and it is expected the total proceeds of the carnival and fete will exceed £5000.
