Sir George Vandeleur Fiddes, As-sistant-Under-Secretary of Slate for the Colonies, succeeds Sir' John Anderson. [Sir John Anderson, X.C.8., has .been Permanent Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies since 1911. He was born in Gartly, Aberdeenshire, in 1858. He accompanied King George, then Prince of Wales, on his colonial tour, was Governor of the Straits, Settlements and High Commissioner for the Federated Malay States from 1004 to 1911. His successor at the Colonial Office, Sir George Fiddes, K.C.M.G., has been As-■■istant-Under-Secretary since 1909.]
