On Tuesday evening the Island Bay Lerhampore Company of the B-eservi held its weekly parade on Wakefiek i'arlc. There was a, satisfactory muster and the first part of the evening wa; ■devoted to company drill, in which thi platoon commanders were given an op portunity of handling the whole com pany. Thi s was followed by a new de parture of a very interesting character the company, under Staff-Sergt.-Majo .Ghfford Smith, of Trentham, making ib first acquaintance with the system o bayonet drill, as tought to the" Expedi tionary Forces Sergt.-Major Clifforc Smith intimated his willingness to con tinue the instruction at subsequen parades, and the best thanks of the com pany arc due to him for so generousli offering his services at a time when hi is already so busy with his camp duties As the success of instruction in thi: class.of work depends on its continuity it is hoped that members will make"; special effort to attend parades regular I.V, and thus show their appreciation o the generous offer of the sergeant-major CHRISTMAS CAKES.
