QUEENSLAND MEAT WORKS BILL

QUESTION IN THE.HOUSE OF

COMMONS.

LONDON, 4th November, in the House.of Commons, Mr. Theodore Taylor - drew attention to the Queensland Meat Works Bill, giving power to the Government to appropriate meat works and to extinguish the owners' rights without compensation. He asked whether the Imperial Governmenthad asked for the Bill.

Mr. Bonar Law, Secretary of State for the Colonies, said lie understood that the Bill'was intended to give the Queensland Government greater powers of control over the meat supplies than those which it exercised, at the wish of, and in consultation with, the Imperial Government; but the latter had not required the introduction of the Bill.
