MR. CAVE, K.C.

LONDON, 4th November.

Mr. G. Cave, K.C., has been appointed Solicitor-General in succession to Sir JF. E. Smith, who has succeeded Sir Edward Carson as Attorney-General.

[Mr. Cave, Recorder of Guildford since 1904, has been Unionist M.P. for the Kingston Division of Surrey since 19C6. He was born in London in 1856. and educated at Merchant Tailors' School and St. John's College, Oxford. In 1880 he became a barrister at the Inner Temple, and in 1913 Master of the Bench. He has been for some time Standing Counsel to Oxford University, and last year was appointed Attorney-General to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales.]
