■ \ * MURRAY CREEK COMPANY. The mine manager of the Murray Creek Gold Mining Company, Ltd.; reports for the month of October as follows:—"The contractors have stoped 185£ tons off the leading stope south of No. 1 winze in the intermediate level. Wages men were employed in No. 3 level, opening out north of the point, the reef was intersected to enable points to be put in for a lay-by. The distance driven on the reof was 10ft, width of reef in the face 2ft. The total distance driven on the reef from the south to north faces is 114 ft. Everything is in readiness to commence the loading stope', and air and water-pipes have been relaid from ■ the shaft to the face. Fifty tons of quartz have been hoisted from No. 3 level and dumped into No. 3 ore bin.' One hundred and sixty tons of quartz have been crushed, from which 58oz 2dwt of retorted gold and _28oz of amalgam were obtained. Pending the arrival of new plates the foundations of the stamper boxes were relaid m ooncrete, and only five heads of stamps have since been running." Since receipt of the foregoing report the mine manager telegraphs: "Installed new plates, crashing' 10 stamps; everything working satisfactorily."
