MIRAMAR AFFAIRS
The Miramar Borough Council met list evening. Present: The Mayor (Mr. F. Townsend), Councillors S. M. Stone, J. Pollock, M. Traecy, and H. Hawthorne. Umncillor Tracey suggested that the tramway shelter sheds should be painted and generally brightened up. It was decided to oil the sheds which are of jarrah. The borough engineer reported the work done and in hand throughout the borough for tho month. The report was approved. The power house engineer reported various stops of tho engines Trouble had been experienced with the air compressor and new Jiner. The report was adopted. The Catholic Education Board was granted tho use of Seatoun Park on Boxing Day on a deposit of 10s, to be returned if the park is cleared up and left in good order. The Salvation Army Sunday School, Kilbirnie, was granted a similar privilege on the same terms for a New Year's Day picnic.
The Miramar Electors' Association wrote asking if the 'bus driver had had instructions to refuse to sell concession tickets aftor 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The Mayor said tho answer to that question was no.
The association also asked whether, in view of the late night now being Friday, the Saturday night's service could not do substituted? The matter was referred to tho Tramways Committee.
Accounts amounting to £390 10s 9d on district fund and £29 15s on loan accountwere passed for payment.
