"Magneto."—The lifting power of an electromagnet is limited oaly by the size of the magnet and the power available. II it is only desired to hold a weight applied to the magnet, a comparatively small magnet, supplied with little current, will hold an enormous weight if the magnet is specially designed. But the attractive force diminishes enormously with distance from the magnet. This rate also depends on the form of the magnet.
