LAWN TENNIS
WELLIMaTON CLUB'S SEASON OPENED. There was a kige attendance of members of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association and their friends at 'the I Palmer-street courts on Satmday last, i when the season was formally opened. Mr. I£. K. Kirkcaldie (the president) lemaiked that the season uromised to be very successful. The club had every > reason to be pioud of the part that its nicmbero had played in the war. Moie thaii a dozen were now on active seivice including Dr. W. Young (a former piesident) and Mr. F. W. Crombie (secretary). Those who have joined the forces were wished every success The opening set was played by Messrs. Kiikcaldie, Irons, Nicholson, and Kennedy. Practice matches were then indulged in. The ladies provided refreshments.
