INVENTIONS AND WAR.
Mr. Lloyd George has established an Inventions Branch of the Ministry of Munitions. " I have (he says) apjpointed Mr. C. W. Moir, a distinguished engineer, who has already given valuable assistance to my department on a voluntary basis, to take charge of the new branch, and he will not only have an expert staff, but also a panel of scientific consultants on technical and scientific points. It ought to be clearly understood that only a very small minority of inventors' projects are of practical value. "The War Office is handing over the whole question of inventions to us, and careful arrangements have been made to secure that the new branch shall keep in close touch with Lord Fisher's Board (the Naval Board of Inventions) to avoid duplication and overlapping, and also with the War Office experts and Army authorities who must ha-ve the ultimate voice in deciding whether any particular invention U ©£ service in *ctuwi w»r-
