BULGARIA WANTS MACEDONIA LOSS OF A GERMAN ARMY CORPS IN THE EAST ITALIAN BATTLESHIP BLOWN OP
Descriptions of the fighting in the west -which are coming to hand give an idea of how tremendous was the assault on the enemy's lines, and the figures of the German casualties, set down at 120,000, are even more impressive. The British are now engaging the third line of defence. The Kaiser has had a conference with his war chiefs, and has rushed to the west front. The Crown Prince's army is reported to have sustained a serious reverse in the Argonne. All the reports of the fighting are of progress made, but that of Colonel Repington, The Times correspondent, declares that a rapid advance is not to be expected. Tierce fighting continues on the Russian front, the enemy making great attacks in the Pripet marshes and on the Galiciari front. A whole German army corps is reported to have been -overtaken by floods in the marshes and lost. ■ The Times Balkan correspondent states that Bulgaria's mobilisation involves an acute crisis. The men are responding to the call, but are not enthusiastic, the people desiring peace. The Bulgarian policy is to acquire Macedonia, which she wants unconditionally. « The Italians have suffered the loss of another battleship.
