MARKED PROGRESS MADE. BY SURPRISE ADVANCE IN THE CARSO. ROME, 28th September. A communique states : — A surprise advance in the Carso region enabled us to make marked progress in the direction of Peteano. There have been small engagements favourable to us elsewhere. THE RECORD OF THE HUN A VOLUME OF INDICTMENTS. LONDjON, 28th September. The French Foreign Minister has published in English a volume detailing the German crimes. It contains one hundred documents, affording convincing evidence that the Germans murdered wounded and prisoners with savage brutality. Many of the victims' heads were reduced to pulp. The book produces General Stenger's orders to massacre prisoners, adding : — "No living enemy must be left behind ■us." Ghastly stories are-_ related of outrages and massacres of civilians in Belgium.
