TRADING WITH THE ENEMY
CASES IN!' AUSTRALIA.. SYDNEY, 22nd September. After the hearing oT the Amalgamated Wireless Company's case, in the Central Summons Court, the Magistrate fined Fisk, Bartholomew, and Dennison each £10' pounds, and the company a similar amount. He said that defendants had traded with the enemy within the meaning of the statute, but there was no case calling for drastic punishment, there being the mitigating circumstances that after the war began defendants offered the Commonwealth Government the services of their ' wireless staffs, and this assistance was availed of. They also acted on legal advice. The six other cases listed were withdrawn. [The Amalgamated Wireless Company of Australasia, Ltd., E. Fisk, C. P. Bartholomew, and H. R.
