DOG SHOW
EXHIBITION OPENED TO-DAY. The Wellington Kennel Club opened its twenty-ninth annual dog chow in the Harbour Board's U Shed to-day. The entries are quite equal to those ol last year, both in point of number and quality, and during the day the at» tendance has been satisfactory. Among the novelties _ are 6ome dainty Chihuahuae, or Mexican terriers, shown by Mr. A. S. Bedford, and splendid specimens of the St. Bernard and the Great Dane. The biggest classes are those for fox terriers, spaniels, setters, bulldogs, and pointers, in which all the best-known breeders of the district are represented. In the English setter class (challenge), the first prize for New Zealand-bred doga was won by 0. F. Angell, who also gained premier honours with the same exhibit in the open class. In the noyico classes, J. Robson was the principal prize-taker. For Irish setters, New Zealand-bred, A. L. Laurenson secured first prize, F. Davis being the winner in the open (dog) class. Mrs. A. L. Dcs Granges won three firsts in the bulldog class, and for bull terriers, H. P. Guppy and H. M. Mullins carried off premier honours. Mrs. G. H. Salinders, Mifce J. Campbell, and G. Abbott were very successful in the Irish terrier class, and Mies K. Kernot and Mrs I. J. Addison'a charming Pekingese were prime favourites. The show will be open tonight and to-morrow.
