A German communique states 1 Get- 1 eral yon Eichorn repulsed a strong Russian attack on the Dwina sector, capturing 700 prisoners. General yon Scholz captured a bridgehead at Wizna, and threw the enemy southward of the Narew across the River Gaz. We have taken, since the Bth, 4950 prisoners. General yon Gallwitz stormed Dajnbrovo, and crossed Andrychow eastward. A German airship bombarded the Bialy6tok railway station* A great explosion was observed. We have occupied Lukof. I General yon Mackensen's troopa have at several points broken into stubbornly defended enemy positions. The Russians are consequently retreating on the entire front between the Bug and Parczef. MACKENSEN'S ARMY NEARING BRESTLITOVSK., (Received August 13, 2.30 p.m.) „ AMSTERDAM, 12th August. General Mackensen is within thirty-six miles of Brestlitovsk. IN THE ARGONNE ENEMY CLAIMS A SUCCESS.
