MILTON MILITARY SCANDALS
. Henderson; convicted on further- charges. , m'clymont before the, court. (B1 TEL^ORIPH.— -PRESS iSSOCUTION.) DUNEDIN, 12th August. At the Supreme Court, J. R. Hender- V son was convicted of charges of stealing sums of £5 paid to him for ammunition, £2 Bs, a portion of £15 16s paid to him for payment oorf r rear party at camp, £1 10s, received for a military belt, and £95 ss, portion of money paid to him for the payment of officers and men of the South Otago Regiment during camp at Milton. The accused was acquitted on a charge of stealing £7 8s 6d, portion of a cheque paid by him as adjutant to George Reid, barman, in the first case. v The jurj recommended prisoner to mercy, and "de precate the manner in which the books and moneys of the regiment had been managed, not only by Hendereon, but by his predecessors." Sentence was deferred. John Bell M'Clymont was charged with theft of £50, the amount of a cheque drawn "by him as officer commanding the 14th South Otago Regiment.
