HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLED REPORT. , The Department of Agriculture, Industries, Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, 17th July. Lamb — A fair demand continue*, especially for light weight, even if quality is poor. Canterbury, two's, Bid per lb ; heavy weight, a moderate supply, Bid ; second grade, Bid for light weight ; other than Canterbury, B|d for light weight. Beef— Prime New Zealand beef cannot be quoted. Chilled hinds, Bid per lb; fores, 7&d. . * Butter. — The_ market is firm, and good qualities are in demand, but there is a poor demand for inferior quality. Danish, very slow, on account of 1 high price, 157 ito 160s per owt; Australian, very little offering, 138s to 140s j Irish creamery, 140s' to 1445 ; Siberian, a good demand for finest, 128s to 1325; Argentine, 142 ato 144b. Cheese — The market remains very depressed. Prices have declined vory considerably, and transactions in oheeee are very limited. Canadian, weak market, 78a to 84s per cwt; English.' Cheddar, quiet, 98s to 102s; New Zealand, in mod* crate demand, white and coloured, 82s to 84s; Australian, dull, 78s to 80s; United States, dull, 76s to 82s, a«oording to quaiity and size. Hemp— The market is very quiet, and there is nothing doing. New Zealand good-fair grade, per ton, £31 10s; fajr, £29 10s. Forward shipments Good-fair, £31 ; fair, £29. Manila, new graded, fair, £36 10s, medium, £32. The output from Manila for tho week was 17,000 bales. Hops— The market . is firm, with upward teudenoy. English, per owt, 100s to 120s; Californian, 85s to 105s. Wheat — The market is firm owing to reports concerning unfavourable weather in America. July to August shipment : Canadian, 55s per quarter; American, 495. Oats— The market is very quiet. Argentine, July to August, 24s 6d.
