UNPLEASANT WEATHER

During the week-end the weather was of a very_ unpleasant variety. Saturday was a miserable day,_ with a persistent drizzle. Sunday morning broke fine, but too fine to last long, and early in the afternoon Wellington was treated^ to more rain, the conditions, at times, being very squally. This morning the sun was given an opportunity to shine, and' its warmth and drying-up properties were thoroughly appreciated. Later the clouds once again ruled supreme, and more than once rain seemed imminent. The conditions ruling here have been general. The official forecast is_ for more dull and misty weather, with snow on elevated stations in the South, and a_ very cold night. Increasing westerly winds are likely in this vicinity.
