. * ! CONFERENCE AT WHANGARIE. (BT TELEGRAPH— PRBsS ASSOCIATION.* WHANGAREI, 27th June. • A special dairy confemee at Whangarei on Saturday afternoon was attended by delegates from the Whangarei, Hikurangi, Waipu, Parua Bay, and Maungatapere Dairy Companies, to discuss the shortage of shipping space. Mr. A. Rowlands, representative of the Whangarei Freezing Company, in person 'offered to build a store for butter to accommodate all the requirements of the companies and meet Government requirements. The meat works were being extended, and refrigerating machinery of the latest type would be able to deal easily, with the butter. The company would charge one shilling per box, receiving at Whangarei or Onerahi, lightering, storing, and putting aboard oceangoing vessels. The present rate of the Auckland Company was one shilling and a penny three-farthings. He guaranteed to make arrangements for fortiughtly sailings in normal shipping times ; also to cover Vancouver. The conference decided that the delegates submit the proposal to their respective companies, the latter to give their answer by 6th July to an excutive formed at the conference.
