GREAT SUBMARINE WORK

HEAVY TOLL OF TURKISH SHIPS DECORATIONS FOR OFFICERS AND CREW. (Received 'June 26, noon.) LONDON, 25th June. Lieut. -Commander Martin E. Nasmith has been awarded the Victoria Cross for his submarine exploit in the Sea of Marmora. It resulted in the sinking of one large Turkish gunboat, two transports, one ammunition ship, and three storeships, in addition to driving one storeship ashore. When he had passed the most difficult part of the homeward journey, he retuned and torpedoed a Turkish transport. Distinguished Service Crosses have also been awarded to Lieut. Doyle Hughes and Acting-Lieut. Robert Brown, R.N.R., and each of the crew received the Distinguished Service Medal.
