BOMBS AND BURNING LIQUID. (Received June 26, 10 a.m.) PABIS, 25th Jnne. A communique states : We attacked between Angres and Souchez and made further progress. A counter attack in the Labyrinth was repulsed. . The Germans delivered a violent attack on our whole front at Calonne. They hurled asphyxiating bombs and threw burning liquid. Our men penetrated portion of their old second line and our counter attack drove them out. The enemy attempted, at midnight, a fresh offensive, and was caught within our curtain of fire and dispersed vwith heavy losses. Infantry attacks on our trenches at Reichackerkopf were stopped by our artillery and infantry. A German aeroplane dropped five bombs harmlessly at the Sanatorium at Zuydcoote. SATISFACTORY REPORT. The High Commissioner reports: — LONDON, 25th June, 1.10 a.m. In the region north of Arras the French consolidated their captured positions. The enemy violently bombarded Berry-au-bac and a neighbouring village. The loss was insignificant. In tho Argonne and on the heights of the Meuse there were only artillery actions. A local German attack was refulsed in the Vosges. The enemy bomarded the borders of MetzeraPand the crests east of the village, where the French progress was slightly accentuated.
