THRILLING STORY OF THE AIR' FRENCH PILOT'S HEROISM. ' _ PARIS, 26th Juno. French aviator and his mechanic were ordered to bombard a railway and destroy a German convoy. They had discharged three bombs when two German armoured trains appeared and opened fire. Meanwhile, the aeroplane was sailing down swiftly, in corkscrew fashion. The Germans waited to be sure of their prey, when they were astonished to see the mechanic regain control of the- aeroplane, which shot upwards. The Germans reopened fire/ but the aeroplane headed for the French lines. Ten minutes later the captain recovered consciousness: He returned and threw the two remaining bombs upon,, the trains and munitions, and completely, executed his mission before returning.
