NATIONAL RESERVE
A well-Attended and enthusiastic meeting of the Wellington Railway Branch of the National Reserve was held in the Drill Hall last evening lor the purpose of the election of officers and u.c.o.'s. Arrangements for \ho election wore in the hands of Lieut. B. Qow and a staff of assistants, and was ably carried out. The result of the respective elections was aa follows : —Captain, £. Meekj lier.tenante, J. Barr, h. Barclay, H. WhitUker, D. D. Ettas; quartermaster-sergeant,' A. Mackie ; sergeant-major, E. Wilson; sergeants, W. P.. Carter, H. J. Allan, A. Coles, C. R. Watson, and P. J. M'Govern. A large number of members were nominated for the various positions. The contest was carried out in a sportsmanlike manner, and the results for each office were received with applause. ! The National Reserve da-ill competition that is being promoted by the Weli lington Patriotic Society will take place at Newtown Park on 10th July. Tho following are the officia.l conditions that will govern the competition: — "Teams of not more than 16 and not less than 12. under a n.co. Number; form fours ; form two deep ; about turn ; form fours ; form two deep ; about turn ; by the left, quick march ; left, incline ; right incline ; form fours ; right ; on the left, form squad ; forward ; right form ; forward ; right turn ; advance in single file ; form two deep j at tho halt, on the left, form squad ; stand »t ease. Final ; March of the whole of competing squads. Dress : Mufti. Some uniform dress for each squad is desirable. Entries close on 3rd July at the office of the Now Zealand Patriotic Society (Wellington Branch), 18, Grey-streel.
