HARBOUR BOARD
The Harbour Boaxd met last evening, Mr. C. E. Daniell presiding. There were also present : — Messrs. A. H. Hindmarsh, M.P., R.. A. Wright, M.P., R. Fletcher, M.P., M. Cohen, A. Macfarlane,' W. Cable, J. G. Harkness, J. Cobbe, C. W. Jones, R. E. Sinclair. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs. Nathan and M'Ewan and Captain Watson. The Chairman reported that the proposed joint letter from the principal harbour boards of the Dominion to the Prime Minister re harbour dues on transports earning freight has been circulated and approved by most of the boards concerned. He moved : That the board approve the letter and authorise Chairman and two members to sign on behalf of the board. This was agreed to. The Chairman also reported that the judgment of the Privy Council re harbour dues on mail steamers under special contract had been lodged in the Wellington Courts, and accounts have now been rendered to the Union Steam Ship Company. In reply to a member the Chairman said the accounts had not yet been paid.
