THE RAILWAY RESERVISTS A PRESENTATION.
The chairman of the executive council of the National Reserve, Mr. G. A. Troup, yesterday presented to Mr. E. F. Dawson, stationmaster, Wellington, on behalf of his two colleagues, Messrs. W. Wills and G. T. O'Loughlin, a goldmounted cigarette case and holder. In making the presentation the chairman spoke in very high terms of the splendid work done by the delegates, Messrs. Dawson, Wills, and O'Loughlin, as organisers of the Railway National Reserve, who had completed a tour of the New Zealand railways. The result of their mission was being daily exemplified by increased enrolments and by marked activity of all branches. It was only to be expected that such a result should indicate co-operation and combined effort on the part of each delegate and of loyalty to each other, and it should be very pleasant to the recipient to know that his two colleagues paid such a public tribute to his management and tact. In the course of his reply Mr. Dawson mentioned that during their tour of forty-six days as organising delegates they had addressed 57 meetings and 3454 'members, visited 33 branches, inaugurating 20, and travelled 3322 miles. lie paid a high compliment to his associates, who, by their close study of the work in hand, their tact and platform capabilities, had done so much for the success of the movement. On behalf of his colleagues and himself he was proud- to announce that they had the honour of being appointed by the General Manager and his executive as members of the governing body of the Railway National Reserve, an honour of which they felt exceedingly proud.
