FRENCH AND BRITISH DEFEATED. BERLIN, 18th June. Official. — The English and French continued their attempts to break our lines on Wednesday. We recaptured the greater pait of the trenches lost north of Lake Bellewarde. The Weetphaiiana and Saxons overpowered the English north ot La Bassee Canal, after a hand-to-hand fight. The French south of Kouchex succeeded in penetrating our positions on a. v idth of six hundred yards and obtained a footholc'. Fighting is proceeding. ing was conducted with a great ex- ' penditure of ammunition and regardless of losses. It again terminated in the defeat of the French and British. Our victorious hand-to-hand fights furnish fresh proofs of the bravery and imperturbable endurance of our troops.
