PRICES AT THE MARKETS

The weekly produce report of the New Zealand Farmers' Distributing Company, Ltd., for the week ending to-day, is as under : — The supply of potatoes has fallen off during the week, and to-day the demand is unsatisfied. We anticipate a rising market from now on, 1 Crops are turning out light in the South. The sale for onions is very disappointing, the market being over-supplied with South-ern-grown lines of excellent quality. Within a month or so, when these stocks are oleared, high prices will, in our opinion, be obtainable. Oats have during the week remained steady. Very few sales are taking place in wheat. Java maize of excellent quality has arrived, and replenished a bare market. Meals are all in good demand, also linseed oil cake. A big demand has set in for English rape for sowing in the spring, farmers being evidently now alive to the advantage of booking at once. No further supplies of molasses will be obtainable for , about two weeks, Auckland stocks being exhausted. Pork pigs are iv fair demand. Eggs are dull, there being a surprisingly poor demand for preserved lines, quite contrary to what was anticipated some months ago. Large importations from America are responsible for this. Bulk honey is wanted in large quantities. There is a good demand for choice cooking and dessert apples, but inferior lines are selling at low rates. There is a very good demand for choice dessert peai's. Cooking varieties meet fair sale only. The supply of cauliflowers has not been so heavy this week, and choice lines are ruling at higher rates. The demand for Savoy cabbages is steady, and choice lines are eagerly bought up. There is good demand for marrows and pumpkins, and larger consigiimpnts could be handled. Lettuceb meet fair demand. Swedes are selling freely. All root vegetables meet ready sale at last week*, rates. Spring jmkmg^le^^ajia^elsryfmgetteadyj^e..
