THE WAIRAU MASSACRE.

A contributed article in a recent supplement of The Evening Poßt mentioned, in connection with the Wairau Massacre, the name of Colonel Wakefield, instead of Captain Wakefield. Mr. J. H. Collier, of Northland, writes a correction, pointing out that Col. Wakefield died in Wellington several years later The massacred party was referred to in the articlo as a "white force." Mr. Collier remarks that it was not a military force, but was composed of men taken from their work, and sworn in as special constables.
