PLUNKET SOCIETY

Th« monthly meeting of the Society for the Health of Women and Children was attended by Mesdames Algar Williams (in the chair), G. Reid, M'Vicar, Corrigan, Cook, M'Lean, J. Tripe, W. Luke, Winder, Ewen, and Hosking, the Viscountess KeJburn, Misses Barnettand Kirkcaldie. Apologies were received from Mesdames Massey, Ward, S. Kirkcaldie, Coull, Fell, and Misses Cable, Peach, and Inglis. The nurse's monthly Teport was most satisfactory both for Wellington and Petone. Miss Barnett reported that sewing bees had been held weekly both at Mrs. Algar Williams and Mrs. Hosking's houses since 3rd April. The sum of £20 17s Id had been spent on material, and over 700 baby garments had been made. They wer© exhibited at Messrs. Kirkcaldie and Stains's premises on Tuesday, Ist June. The committee's thanks are duo to Mr. S. Kirkcaldie for his courtesy in allowing the baby clothes to be shown. The committee also wishes to thank tho many outside workers who have given such valuable help, including Mesdames Bayfield, Stott, C. Riohard6on, Roskruge, La Trobe, Miss Baber's girls, and the Chilton House girls, and Miss Cooper. M'Vicar and seconded fiy"' s 'Mrs. Algar Williams. A vote of sympathy \was passed to Mrs. F. R. Chapman on the death of her son at the front, the sympathy of tho committee to be conveyed to Mrs. Chapman in a letter written by the president.
