RUSSIANS' DESPERATE RESISTANCE IMPORTANCE OF EVENTS ON THE • DNIESTER. (Received June 5, 2 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, 4th June. ( ■ The correspondent of the Lokal Anfceiger (Galicia), telegraphing on Wednesday, says the. greatest importance attaches to the events on the Dniester, north of Stryj^ The enemy is still holding, out tenaciously north-east of Sambor, where there is a sevenfold line of defences. An equally desperate resistance is being offered against part of>Von Mackensen's force moving eastward from Radymno. The Russians are similarly pushing forward from the Vistula-San corner, hoping to influence the battle in the middle San. Very hard battles confront the Austro-German forces in middle, Galicia.
