SUGGESTED NEW ROAD
Wairarapa Automobile Association has been interesting itself in a proposal for the construction of a road from Orongo Orongo to Wharepapa. It is obtaining reports, and meanwhile has written to public bodies requesting their co-opera-tion. Such a request came before the Wellington City Council last night, and on the motion of the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), it was resolved that a reply be sent that the council would interest itself as far as possible to advance the scheme when the time was ripe. Councillor Barber stated that support would cost the council nothing, and the proposal was an important one, Bince it had reference to the provision of another outlet for Wellington.
