AMERICAN STEAMER TORPEDOED
CREW- SAVED. (Received May 27, 8.10 a.m.) LONDON, 26th May. The American steamer . Nebraskan was torpedoed off Fastnet. The crew were saved. (Received May 27, 8.40 a.m.) LONDON, 26th May. The Nebraskan was outward bound for Delaware. When forty miles off Fastnet she sent out a wireless message last night calling for help, and stating that she had been torpedoed, and that the crew were standing by the boats. The weather was fine. An armed trawler picked up the Nebraskan, which was making for Queenstown with her forehold full of water. [The Nebraskan is a steel twin-screw steamer of 4409 tons, and is owned by the American-Hawaiian Steam Ship Company. She was built in 1902, had refrigerating machinery, and aubmarine signalling apparatus.]
