Following on the Bishop of Pretoria's letter, published yesterday, is which he made an appeal for more men, there is published to-day a flattering message from a Times correspondent on the men of the British Army in the field. In the new theatre of war Italy has massed her troops at a point most dangerous to 'Austria, and the official mes^ sage to-day reports that a number of places have been taken in the Tyrol, and progress made eastward into Austria on the way to Trieste. King Ferdinand has reviewed his troops, and the general opinion is that Rumania is on the brink of war.
