ACCOUNTANT STUDENTS' SOCIETY
There was a successful meeting of the Accountant Students' Society latt night, wlien a, lecture was delivered by Mr. H. F. yon Haast on "The Law Relating to Voluntary Liquidations." Mr. yon Haast outlined the procedure of the liquidation from the date the first meeting was called, and dealt exhaustively with the various points that came' up for consideration in the course of the liquida- ' tTbn. He cited the leading cases both in England and New Zealand to substantiate the principles he enunciated. He condemned the legislation for the winding up by the Official Assignee as obsolete and rusty, and emphasised the great need for the legislation to be recast and put on a workable basis. Tho lecturer was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. It was announced that th^ joint debate with the Christchurch Society would be held in Wellington ron 28th August, when it was hoped that'members of the Council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants would be in attendance. The subject of 'tho debate would deal with the economic aspect of the present war.
