SERIOUS FIRE AT WAIPAWA
(BT TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WAIPAWA, This Day. A disastrous fire occurred early this morning, gutting the premises of Williams (jeweller), Vickers (tobacconist), Bolt (stationer), Moir (cycle agent), and Parkin (tailor). Considerable damage was also done to Hood's drapery store by water and smoke. The fire had a strong hold when it was discovered, threatening to sweep the main street, but the brigade made a fine save. The insurances were: — Carson's Buildings, £1130 in the Royal; Williams, £225 in the State and £100 in the Northern; Parkin, £200 in the South British; Bott, £100 in the Victoria and £100 in the Queensland; Moir, £300 vn the State; Vickers, £200 in the Royal; Hood Bros., £500 each in the State, Queensland, and Yorkshire.
