He and a neighbour were riding home from Temuka about 6 p.m., when Mattheson's horse bolted and threw him, and his companion riding after him in the dark did not see him fall and went on to Winchester, returning when lie found the horse there without the rider. At Petone yesterday Mr. D. Q. 'A. Cooper, S.M., held an enquiry concerning the death of William Bolton, aged about 40 years, of 26, Ryan-street, Petone, who died suddenly whilst assisting William Ward to haul a fish-net off the Petone foreshore on Tuesday night. Dr. Harding stated that as the result of a po3t-mortem examination he found that deceased had suffered from fatty degeneration of the heart. William Ward deposed that he had known Bolton for about eight months. They had gone out in a boat for the purpose of fishing. Bolton went along the beach to move a rope attached to the trawling net . Shortly afterwards witness discovered him lying face downwards on the sand. He turned him over, and as there were no signs of life he immediately sent fov Dr. Harding. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence.
