CIVIC ELECTIONS

♦ LABOUR REPRESENTATION. The question of whether Mr. C. H. Chapman should be nominated as a Labour candidate for the Mayoralty was again before the Labour Representation Committee last night. A motion that the question should be referred to the unions was ruled out of order, and the position is now that Mr. Chapman is still the selected Labour candidate for Mayoral honours. It was decided last night that the initial meeting of Labour's civic campaign should be held in St. Peter's Schoolroom at the 7 end of the month. The speakers at the meeting will be : Messrs. C. H. Chapman (Mayoralty), A. H. Hindmarsh (Harbour Board), W. Croskerry (Hospital and Charitable Aid Board), and H. E. HolJand (City Council). A series of open-air meetings will also be held.
